I was wondering, what do you guys think about the theory that Goku is in fact the real legendary SSJ? I mean there are quite a few points to back this up; 1. He is the only Saiyan to reach every single Saiyan level i.e SSJ1,2,3,4 and even the false SSJ thing. And more often than not he is the first to reach the levels in question. 2. He seems to have limitless capabilities. Despite their difference in power at birth (Goku had a power level of 2 whilst Broly had 10,000) Goku actually manages to become the strongest Saiyan in the history of the race. 3. Broly had the Legendary SSJ state, but SSJ2, 3 and 4 are all stronger than it. So yes Broly is the only one to reach the Legendary state, which we assume he was born with and possibly the only Saiyan to be able to reach that state, Goku and others manage to surpass even that. 4. Goku is in fact more "legendary" in the sense of the word. He beat Frieza, slayer of the Saiyans. He beat Buu, one of the most powerful beings to appear in the universe. He beat Broly, albeit with the help of others, but he still managed to beat him. Plus, he is the strongest of all the Saiyans. What are your views on this? |

No Broly is the true Super Saiyan because Goku had to train his butt off alot to the point where he even believe he hitted a wall and can't get anymore stronger. Broly was a Super Saiyan by birth so that made him more legendary than Goku even though he can reach level beyond SSJ. So overall Broly was a prodigy by birth and Goku must work hard to achieve those stats. |

Broly would not have been born a SSJ, he still would have had to achieve it. Also, a legend is a series of stories where a person overcomes obstacles with significant effort. Goku's adventures, battles and training are the sort of things that would go down as a legend. He also fits the stereotypical "legend" - an underdog (Goku being born as a low-class Saiyan) over-coming his boundaries and obstacles and stronger enemies. And like I said above, he reached all the Saiyan states which is a legendary achievement which, if Saiyans were still alive, would tell to children who aspire to be the greatest Saiyan warrior. |

Saiyan classes r decided from birth to wither b low or elite and Goku was classify as a low level saiyan. On the other hand Broly was born a prodigy with a power of 10,000 far exceeding those of many Elite saiyan warriors (example) Nappa. So in Saiyan's point of view Broly is the true legendary saiyan since he was born with that kind of power while Goku was born a weakling yet he worked hard to achieve those stats. |

But aren't Saiyans only considered with strength. So surely because Goku is ultimately the strongest of the two, the Saiyans would most probably consider Goku to be the true legend. |

Saiyan's strength comes from their birth right since Vegeta seem pride of his saiyan stats as an Elite and is extremely piss at Goku a low level saiyan surpassing him everytime. I do agree with u that Goku can b consider a legend seeing that he achieve all the saiyan levels but Broly is still the true legend because he was born with that power unlike Goku. |

It's not their strength measued at birth, it's their potential. Goku was clearly either mis-judged, or just managed to surpass his limits by vigirous training via many different masters i.e Roshi, King Kai and others. |

It was explained by Vegeta that the saiyan overall strength at birth is to decide them 2 either b Elite or low not potential. Bardock is a prime example of this seeing that he was branded a low level saiyan at birth yet his potential allowed him 2 achieve a power level far exceeding those of any elite saiyans. (Bardock's movie is decided by Akira to b canon so he can b used). |

I'd have to say its Goku, i mean i know Broly had the power at birth but goku always had the need to better himself and isn't taht what a super siayan should be someone who is going to push past the boundaries, I mean Goku's always found it easier to get to these levels so maybe thats why he is the legendary super siayan |

So Goku's power level (which is strength) will always be 2, as that is what we are told he was at birth. That is clearly not true, so it is their potential that is measured. Potential is what you can become with training, and this is how Saiyans are measured at birth. This is obvious because there strength is clearly going to increase as they get older, even without training, and it will not just stay the same. Goku and Bardock, and even Vegeta, found a way (or were just mis-judged) to surpass these limits. Broly was the only one accurately measured as he had a power level of 10,000 at birth, and clearly had the potential to be "legendary". If they had accurately measured the potential of Goku and Vegeta, then they too would be considered legendary. |

Just some observations: Broly - Super saiyan at birth. Goku and vegeta worked at becoming super saiyan. Gohan had a bit more potential than goku younger. Goten and trunks both became super saiyans at an age when Goku barely could squeeze out a kamehameha. Goku Jr. Vegeta Jr. Were super saiyan even younger than goten and trunks. I believe every saiyan has the ability to go super saiyan if they understand what it takes to do it. Anger is the key accordingly. It just so happens that Broly was filled with anger from birth somehow. And Goku Crying probably only made the subject worse. Also, It's very difficult to compare the movies to the series. In the series Broly doesn't even exist. And it has been said many times that the movies should never be compared or analyzed with the series because it never makes sense. It's a true statement to say that in the Broly MOVIES, Broly was and is the legend. However in the Z series, Goku is the legend. |

That's a good point Kotetsu, I think your last statement about Goku being the legend in the series and Broly being the legend in the movies would be a fair conclusion to the argument. |

What i mean here is that they brand the baby to either b elite or low depending on the babys overall power. I never said that as they grow older they won't get stronger .

I agree with this. In the series, Goku, having risen up against the exterminator of the saiyan race would definatly be the "legendary super saiyan". In a sense of a powerful saiyan who exceeds others of his race. With Broly in play, the definition changes. Broly was born with a huge mass of power, so much so that he exceeded most full grown saiyans. He is the peerless warrior, gifted with incredible powers of destruction. In that sense, he is the legendary super saiyan also. He is an undefeatable warrior, king of the saiyan race, not just a saiyan who has gone beyond the norm. He is born with more power then any normal saiyan (Goku/Vegeta) could hope to have. The reason Goku becomes stronger then Broly is not because Goku is the legendary super saiyan, but because of hardwork and most importantly, time. Saiyans power levels are shown to grow many times greater over the years that they live. Broly probably never trained due to the fact he would easily defeat anyone with the power he had been born with. I have no doubt in my mind that if Broly had trained constantly for years (assuming he didn't die/get put in coma in ice blah blah) as hard as Goku and Vegeta did, he would exceed them. So to make a long winded boring explaination short: What Kotsetsu said. Edit: Yes, if you stick by the book, Broly doesn't count, and so Goku is the LSSJ, and not just that but a legendary warrior to all the races. Edited by Psyam, Dec 23 2008, 09:29 PM.

The movies were just sidekicks to the actual story plot of Dragonball and Dragonball Z. These events actually did not take place in the real plot of Dragonball or Z so with that said, Broly doesn't even have a chance to contend with Goku on this subject. Goku isn't just the legendary Sayain, he is the legendary warrior of the universe. It doesn't matter how hard Goku had to train to get to where he is. The fact of the matter is Goku is consistently the strongest throughout all of DB and Z. |
